To initiate your application, read through the details below, download and fill out a form, then upload any of the required supporting documents.

Important Notes

  • Grant applications submitted to The Tauranga Moana Hearing Trust will be considered where funding is being sought towards:

    ​

    • Cost of hearing aids.

    • Extra costs associated with education/tuition for the hard of hearing.

    • Specialized equipment for the Deaf.

    • Assistance for hearing impaired children to attend special support days.

    • Ongoing ear health and care needs.

    • Other equipment and devices to assist with communication.

    • Information and awareness programs

    All grant applications are means tested.

    ​

    Please note that no applications are processed during the month of December or January.

  • The Tauranga Moana Hearing Trust has a scholarship fund to specifically benefit the hard of hearing or Deaf people within our area. 

    ​

    Applicants:

    • Can be adults, youth hearing impaired, Deaf or hearing individuals.

    • Must be New Zealand permanent residents.

    • Must be living in the Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa area and their study must benefit those in this area.

    • Must have a proven interest level in the study to be undertaken.

    ​

    Conditions of Application:

    • Study can be undertaken in New Zealand or overseas.

    • Study can be at university, polytechnic, online or a professional development course.

    • Scholarships granted will be specifically for fees and materials and will be paid to the supplier direct.

    • If the applicant does not complete the study they received the scholarship for, the grant must be repaid to the Trust.

    • Scholarship applications close on 31st October each year.

Prior to beginning the application process, please note we are only able to provide assistance to those residing in Tauranga City, Papamoa, and Mount Maunganui.

Please ensure you have the required documents and any other documents listed in the form:

  • 2 quotes from audiologists

  • Recent bank statement for all accounts covering a minimum of 30 days

  • A letter from WINZ or MSD detailing either the amount of loan assistance they are prepared to approve or stating their inability to assist.

If your application qualifies for assistance, we will be in touch with a personalised plan based on your requirements. We will outline how the Tauranga Moana Hearing Trust will be able to assist and empower you on your journey.

We will reach out if we require any further details. Once all the required information is obtained, the Tauranga Moana Hearing Trust aims to process your application and respond within a few weeks.
